After discovering a rift in time created by aliens that grew inside seemingly normal plants, the two heroes must find a way to stop the insidious plot. Their quest leads them to the other side of the nation to fight against odds unknown. The Scientist takes it upon herself to study and learn the ways of the plant-folk so that we may help them resist the aliens. While Gamer studies and finds new ways to kill the aliens where they lurk.
On a noble steed named Focus
The day was June 27th. The hour... early-ish. Mariko and I had finally began our cross-country trek. Luckily for us most of our belonging were on a semi-truck nearly to Ithaca before we even left our home, for neither of us wanted to have to drive a U-Haul across the unknown and untamed lands that are the Midwest and eastern USA. Our little Black Focus was nearly full, but with a clearance to see over the tops... I have no desire to be one of those people unable to see around them while driving.
Leaving Eastern Colorado was easy enough... mostly due to the fact that there was nothing between Elizabeth and the Kansas border except for the dusty town of Limon and a few hundred miles of farmland. Though I think that Samwise Gamgee said it best, "If I take one more step, it'll be the farthest away from home I've ever been." Mariko and I had crossed oceans and traveled to foreign lands... but I've never driven further east than Colorado. A very strange combination.
Kansas itself was mostly unassuming and boring, a random sign for the 'World's Largest Prairie Dog' or 'Living 5-legged Cow' being most of the entertainment. Sadly we missed the exit to some of the finest and wholesome fun in the grand state of Kansas (my words, not there's). But we are hoping to see more thrilling sign and exhibits in some other states.
We were both pleasantly surprised with how green the state was once we hit Topeka. Trees and grass everywhere. And when we hit Lawrence it was like a menagerie of flora. And then we got out of the car and we were drinking the air. Granted I know that there are more humid and warm places, and we will probably be visiting them, but to us dry Coloradans.. it was horrid.
1 Day down, and 2.5 days left to go.... lets see what the other states have in store for us
